(Sorry for the late posting) We have been using a fairly common 3-D printer model for a little while now. Ours is a MakerGear version of the RepRap Prusa Mendel open source hardware and software 3-D printer. I chose this printer, primarily for the ability to easily hack it for use as a bioprinter. The tradeoff for this is that it takes some experience to do adjustments, level the thing, download and use the software. (Thank you MICA guys)
Member Mark Rothstein (oh. . . PhD) has graciously offered to show others how to use the thing (in its standard mode, printing PLA. No bioprinting yet). This will include demonstrations using OpenSCAD, SLIC3R, Pronterface, G-code, and relating his 3-D printing experiences. This should be a pretty good opportunity to learn to use the printer for your own projects. This is free and open to the public! (A donation would be great, though) Please RSVP Here.
